Mr. Buffett, age 79, has been Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (a diversified holding company) for more than 39 years. He was elected a Director of the Company in May 1996. Mr. Buffett is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board and serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee and as lead Director of the Board. Mr. Buffett also served as a Director of the Company between 1974 and 1986. On January 20, 2011, the Company announced that lead Director Warren E. Buffett will not stand for re-election at the Company's 2011 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Mr. Buffett will continue to serve until the expiration of his current term on May 12, 2011.

Kaplan, Inc., a subsidiary of the Company, provides a range of educational services for children, students and professionals, both domestically and outside the United States. Kaplan's businesses comprise four categories: Higher Education, Test Preparation, Kaplan International and Kaplan Ventures. The Company's media operations consist of the ownership and operation of cable television systems, newspaper publishing, television broadcasting and magazine publishing.
